The City of Decatur has decided to open the pool for the 2020 summer season, following the CDC guidelines and procedures. After a lengthy Park Board discussion, support from the Park and Rec staff, the local health department, and City officials, the Decatur City Pool (DCP) has been given permission to open for the 2020 summer season. The DCP is slated to open approximately June 14th.
Under normal circumstances, the pool opens Memorial Day weekend. However, with the uncertainty to the state’s plan to safely return to life as we once knew it, work has just now begun to prepare the pool for opening.
Once open, the pool will have a different feel due to the CDC guidelines on public health and safety. We ask patrons to understand that these new policies are put in place for their safety and the safety of the pool staff. It is hopeful that these changes will be temporary. New policies and procedures have been developed according to CDC guidelines.
These new procedures will be made public closer to opening day. Thank you for your understanding.
