Program and Facility Update 5/22/20

Like many of you, The Decatur-Adams County Parks and Recreation staff is eager for life to return to normal, and can’t wait to get back to improving the quality of life for the families in our community! We have been working closely with local health officials and have been following guidelines set by the state of Indiana while making the tough decisions on if and when to resume operations. Below is our current plan for upcoming programs and facilities.

The below outline is subject to change at any time in accordance with state guidelines and/or advise from local health officials.

  • Adams County Service Complex and Fitness Center - The Fitness Center will re-open Friday 5/22/20 from 5am-4pm and Saturday 5/23/20 from 10am-2pm. (Closed 5/24/20 and 5/25/20) Normal operating hours will resume on Tuesday May 26th. (5am-7pm) However, open gym will remain closed until June 14th (this includes basketball, pickleball and indoor walking). All CDC and State guidelines on fitness center operations will be strictly followed. This includes procedures on social distancing, sanitation, and personal protection equipment.

  • City Parks -  *UPDATE* All City park areas are open except for playground equipment which should not be used until June 14th, 2020. Please practice CDC guidelines on social distancing.

  • Decatur City Pool - We are opening! The Decatur City Pool is scheduled to open approximately June 14th 2020. Exact opening day is TBD. The City Pool will open with limited capacity until July 4th. All CDC and Indiana state guidelines on public pool operations will be strictly followed. This includes procedures on social distancing, sanitization, and personal protection equipment.

  • Fall Youth Soccer - We ARE planning on having a 2020 fall youth soccer program. Registration for Youth Soccer is scheduled to begin June 9th.

  • Riverside Center - Administrative office is now open. However, Euchre Club, Paint Club, Senior Luncheon/BINGO and The Decatur Flea Market are postponed until further notice.

  • Swim Lessons - We are still unsure on the possibility of holding swim lessons this summer. If swim lessons are held they will NOT be held until after July 4th, in following the state and CDC guidelines for social distancing. (swim lessons require direct contact between the instructor and student). A decision will be made on swim lessons later this summer.

The following 2020 summer programs have been CANCELLED due to public health concerns relating to the COVID-19 health pandemic:

Youth Summer Camp

Iron Kid Triathlon

Men’s Summer Basketball League

Sand Volleyball League
